Health+ Employee Health Clinic

Knute Nelson’s employee health clinic, heath+, is now the place of primary care for Carrie Schmidt and her family. Carrie has been employed with Knute Nelson for three years and has been part of the company for over 15. Carrie says “Our experience at health+ has been so good. They’re fast to respond, the providers are caring, and they take the time to listen to you and get to know you. We’ve changed our primary care to health+ for all of our family because of that.”
The flexibility of scheduling is also a big factor for Carrie and her family. “If I have a sick child, I know I can call and discuss their condition, they’ll schedule a video visit or get me in right away in-person. Whichever method we choose, we are seen in a short timeframe rather than waiting two or three days.” says Schmidt. She’s experienced long wait times at other clinics and didn’t receive the personalized care she does at health+. She says “Even at the time when the other clinics were our primary care providers, they didn’t get to know us. The providers at heath+ have been really good about getting to know me, my kids, and my husband, making sure we get the right care.”
She knew she was receiving the right care when her daughter had to be referred out of the clinic for additional care. She was very pleased with the communication between health+ and the other provider. She says “My daughter was sick, and we saw urgent care on a Sunday. I called health+ on Monday because she still wasn’t well. Dr. Bruger called the pediatric doctor on call. My daughter ended up being hospitalized. Dr. Bruger followed my daughter’s case the entire time she was there. Even though she wasn’t her provider at the hospital, she wanted to know that she was okay. That meant a lot to me.”
Overall, Carrie would highly recommend health+ to all her co-workers. Her top reason? Personal care. She loves that the providers know her health history and they care about her health on a personal level. She feels that she can be open with them and tell them anything about her health. After listening, they know whether a symptom is out of the ordinary for her, and that gives her peace of mind. Taking the time to listen and providing encouragement along the way has been a game changer for Schmidt. She says “For me, during COVID, was a big deal. Just to have someone else to talk to about how I was feeling. We all were in the same boat. Home with the kids and having to work. It was nice to have a provider that understood our situation and was able to listen. Even if she couldn’t do anything, she said ‘Hey, you’re doing a good job. Just keep up what you’re doing. You’ve got this.’ That was so important to me.”
