Many donors who give to charitable organizations are planning their year-end giving priorities in the month of December. As you revel in the holiday season and the gratitude that this time of year brings, we invite you to consider the Knute Nelson Foundation in your charitable giving plans.
Ways to give
Knute Nelson is a qualified 501c3 nonprofit organization, and the Knute Nelson Foundation is equipped to accept a wide variety of charitable gifts. Here are some options you may want to consider that will make a lasting impact in the lives of the older adults Knute Nelson serves, as well as giving you potential advantages on your taxes. Let’s explore some of these win-win gift options:
1. Gifts of stock:
The Knute Nelson Foundation is equipped to receive gifts of stock from generous donors like you! Contact us for more information or to receive instructions for a quick and easy stock transfer.
"Becky and I were inspired to make a gift of appreciated stock to the Knute Nelson Foundation not only because the Foundation provides wonderful services to residents but also because it was so easy. I had some stock from a bonus program at my previous employer which had appreciated over the years and would have been taxed had I sold it. Instead, I passed it easily to the Foundation. No tax and a tax deduction on my tax return. It was a win, win. On top of this it helped the Foundation. So a win, win, win." —Chris Worley
2. IRA gifts:
If you are over 73, you can make a charitable gift directly from your IRA to our 501c3 that will further our mission and could provide you with tax advantages. Many of our IRA donors gift their Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) directly to Knute Nelson to support our mission. Please contact us to learn more.
3. Give online:
You can quickly and easily make a gift to the Knute Nelson Foundation online here. You can choose to make a one-time gift or become a sustaining donor by setting up a convenient monthly gift.
4. Gifts by mail:
Gifts made by check can be made out to “Knute Nelson Foundation” and mailed to:

Your gifts in action
Here are a few of the ways that generous contributions from individuals, businesses and foundations allow the Knute Nelson Foundation to invest in enriching the lives of those we serve. In the last year, your gifts are at work in the following ways:
- Theatre L’Homme Dieu performers at Grand Arbor – a portion of funds raised from the 2023 Golf Classic event are used for special, enriching resident activities at our housing campuses. At Grand Arbor this summer, residents packed the Community Room to see a professional magician perform for them.
- Thanks to your support, we are already over halfway towards our $200,000 fundraising goal for the renovation of the Short-Term Rehab Courtyard Gardens at the Care Center. Once completed, this will be an accessible, peaceful outdoor haven for residents, family members, and staff alike to relax and rejuvenate.
- Other ways you’ve helped us create impact and enhanced care is through investments in employee scholarships, above-and-beyond resident activities, supplies for hospice family care bags, benevolence care that allows Knute Nelson to care for everyone – regardless of their ability to pay for the full cost of their care…and the list goes on and on!
The Knute Nelson Foundation thanks you
In this season of magic, wonder, and thanksgiving – we are so grateful for your support and investment in our mission. Thank you!
