The Perfect Work-Life Balance
Terah Kraft is closely approaching her one-year mark as a Knute Nelson employee. She was looking for an organization that was well known in the community, one that is actively involved in the community, and an employer that cares about their employees. Those three factors led her to Knute Nelson. Terah is an Accounting Specialist. Her hands get to touch the good stuff, payroll and billing, and a whole lot more.
Terah’s first year
As she reflects back on this first year, she said, “I’m actually more in love with working here than I was on my first day. I really enjoyed my first day. We took a tour of all of the facilities in this area. It really helped me understand what Knute Nelson was all about, and I got to see the different facilities I’d be working with in my job. From that day on, work just kept getting better. My manager and I have weekly check-ins so I can stay informed. Our communication is great, and they love it when I ask questions. My training didn’t just end in the first couple of weeks. I’m continually learning. I feel supported, challenged and I’m excited to come to work.”
‘Knute makes it easy to balance everything’
When asked what else makes her love her job even more, Terah quickly said, “It’s very easy to balance work and my personal life. I’m currently enrolled in college, and I have a family. When you have children, things come up quite often. My manager has said multiple times that family comes first. That is something you don’t normally hear from an employer. That is something that means a great deal to me. The balance between family, school and work can be very challenging. Knute makes it easy to balance everything. They know the priorities that mean the most to me and they are flexible with my schedule. They make it work.”
Knute Nelson Culture
Terah also loves the culture at Knute. “Everyone strives to do better and be better. That’s very inspirational on a personal and professional level for me. Seeing how Knute engages with the community and gives back makes me want to do more, to be a better person, and just get out there and help. I’m looking forward to using my volunteer time off hours.”
Terah’s message to you about working at Knute Nelson is this, “Just jump all in and make that change, because it will be worth it. There’s so much camaraderie and professionalism here. You too will love just how much Knute cares for their residents, employees and the community. You will see it every single day that you come to work.”
