The Time is Right for Social Work
March 1st, 2022
By Danielle Andersen
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, social work is one of the fastest growing professions in the nation – and for good reason. Social workers are needed practically everywhere, working in schools, hospitals, mental health facilities, government, hospice agencies and more.
At Knute Nelson Hospice, the role social workers have in our care is essential to the experience our patients and their families have at the end of life.
Social workers not only serve as advocates and help individuals and their loved ones navigate emotions surrounding the end of life, but they can also assist in the following ways:
- Companionship
- Funeral planning
- Healthcare directives
- Power of attorneys
- Resource finding
- Referrals for legal advice
- Respite and caregiver support
Amy Beckius is a Social Services Specialist at Knute Nelson Hospice. Listen to her talk about her passion for this very special role.
Social Workers make our mission of enriching lives possible and for that we are so thankful.

Happy Social Work Month!
