24/7 Skilled Care and Peace of Mind

Our skilled nursing staff are on-site 24-hours per day to monitor and provide care to you or a loved one. Rest assured that assistance will be readily available whenever you may need it. Things our skilled nursing staff might assist with include:

Complex medication management, including IVs
Chronic illness management such as diabetes, COPD, or Congestive Heart Failure
Incontinence, catheter, and colostomy care
Activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, or eating

Our staff will work with you to develop a care plan that will make you feel valued, comfortable, and safe.

Activities

Each individual we serve is unique and deserves to thrive while doing the things they love. We get to know each of our residents and their interests, passions, and personalities. Our life enrichment staff design fun and engaging activities to fit our residents’ unique needs and desires. You can participate in our activities regardless of your physical or cognitive ability. Some activities offered include:

Arts and crafts
Games and puzzles
Reading – alone, or group reading
Music – playing and listening
Scenic drives and excursions
Cooking and baking
Visits and activities with children from the intergenerational childcare center
Bible study
Worship services

Intergenerational Programming

The Knute Nelson Care Center has an on-site Alexandria Area YMCA Child Care Center. The children visit the residents of the Care Center for activities and can often be seen walking through the halls while transferring locations or singing for the residents. The kids call the residents at the Knute Nelson Care Center their “grand buddies.”
