While every hospice care experience requires a unique, tailored approach, we wanted to share the experiences of Connie Spanswick. She is a member of our spiritual care family who joined us shortly after her father Bob transitioned through hospice care at Knute Nelson. By shining light on the full breadth of what Knute Nelson hospice has to offer, Connie’s story brings clarity during these challenging and often confusing times.
Thinking ahead to decisions that may need to be made if you are in an emergency situation or in danger of death is never pleasant but spelling out certain things you wish to happen ahead of time can be a great comfort to you and your family. An advanced care directive is an important document to create while you are healthy and can think objectively about your care.
Dave’s family was referred to hospice following a hospital stay to help him manage the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of his stage four cancer. What they didn’t expect was the close bonds they’d develop with their care team and the extent of care they’d receive to enable Dave to stay at home with his family.
Knute Nelson is expanding their presence by adding hospice services to the Baxter area. Knute Nelson has had a local presence in Baxter for over two years, serving area residents with quality home care services. Knute Nelson Hospice strives to make every day matter, make every day comfortable, and make every day as joyful as possible for our patients who are living with a terminal or life limiting illness. Their primary focus is on managing the patient’s pain and troubling symptoms, while providing the emotional and spiritual support needed to help patients live their life comfortably.
