Join us for the grand opening celebration of YMCA Child Care at Knute Nelson!

Knute Nelson is excited to welcome YMCA Child Care services to our Care Center campus. The YMCA will serve approximately 50 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Join us in your Boots ‘n Bling…
For an evening to raise funds for resident enriching programs and activities. This event is led by Knute Nelson volunteers, the Friends of Knute.

A free educational seminar entitled, “The Whys of Wills (Part I),” will discuss essential information and steps needed to develop and include in a will. The public is invited to attend the seminar, which begins at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 4.

Congratulations to Knute Nelson Tree of Excellence recipient, Megan Wilken. Megan serves Knute Nelson Home Care and Hospice as a utilization nurse.

Join us on September 25th at 6:30 pm at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes for a free educational seminar, “Advance Care Planning & End-of-Life Wishes.” This session will discuss how to communicate your wishes for end-of-life so that decisions made are based on your personal values and preferences.

A free educational seminar entitled, “The Whys of Wills (Part II),” is a follow up session to “The Whys of Wills (Part I),” that took place in September. This session will discuss beneficiary designations, power of attorney documents and advanced health care directives.

A free educational seminar entitled, “U.S. Tax Reform and Leaving Your Legacy,” will take place on Thursday, November 8th at 6:30 pm. This seminar will help you understand the new tax code and how you and your family fare under the new changes. You will also learn strategies around sustaining your church’s foundation, supplementing an endowment fund or leaving an inheritance.

Judy Johnson has been named the 2018 Knute Nelson Renaissance Award Recipient. The award honors an individual whose leadership and support to the Knute Nelson organization has been exceptional in addition to exemplifying the Knute Nelson mission and beliefs. 

Grand Arbor by Knute Nelson invites the community to a free holiday movie series that will take place each Friday in December up until Christmas. The movies will take place at 4 p.m. and will be located in the Grand Arbor Theater.

Congratulations to Knute Nelson Tree of Excellence recipient, Keziah Koslowsky, Care Attendant at Grand Arbor. The Tree of Excellence Award is the highest level of recognition through the Knute Nelson Recognition Program, and Keziah was nominated for this award due to her outstanding performance.

Knute Nelson Foundation has received a $4,630 grant from Lake Region Art Council (LRAC). The purpose of the grant is to provide an opportunity to engage Knute Nelson residents and Alexandria school children through a canvas painting workshop.

Congratulations to the graduates from Knute Nelson’s 2018 Leadership Academy. This group of 15 individuals has spent the last nine months strengthening and developing their leadership skills.

Knute Nelson was pleased to participate in the Douglas County Historial Society (DCHS) Hotdish Bake-Off event! Thanks to a recipe from our Nelson Gables campus, attendees voted us as the first place hotdish winner

Knute Nelson invites the community to attend up to three public art exhibits this spring. The art displayed was created by Alexandria school children and Knute Nelson residents during joint canvas painting workshops.

Knute Nelson is proud to announce the achievement of Gold Level status with the Minnesota Department of Health for antibiotic stewardship at their Care Center campus.
